SEO for Video – Schema.org Markup

Posted February 24th, 2012 in SEO by Alex

Google recently recommended that content creators begin using Schema.org markups when tagging the metadata for their videos. This is a joint effort with Bing and Yahoo to help videos become more discoverable through all search engines.

Schema.org’s video markup has a wide variety of tags that website owners can use the describe the videos on their site. If used in conjunction with XML video sitemaps, it would be virtually impossible for Google to miss a video embedded on a page.

A complete list of the tags can be found at Schema.org.

Blogging is Back!

Posted February 20th, 2012 in News by Alex

Hello there. It’s been over a year since my last blog post. In that time, I have been working hard at Atlanta SEO agency Everspark Interactive. I am the Video Manager for the company. My responsibilities include video creation for all of our clients, as well as using video SEO in order to achieve higher, well optimized rankings on Google.

In the next few weeks and months, you will see some major changes to my site. Through my own effort, I have gotten my site onto page 1 of Google for a few great video-related keywords. Our plan is to revamp my site so that it not only looks better, but will be branded as an Everspark site. You will begin to see more blogs on this site, including entertaining videos and educational tutorials. I want to be producing one tutorial every month. In the long run I would like to make it twice a month, or maybe even once a week.

Stay tuned as we roll out the redesign, and keep an eye out for the first tutorial in March!

Boardwalk Empire Effects Breakdown

I’m a sucker for VFX breakdowns. Boardwalk Empire is a great show, and their VFX team is great. I honestly had no idea some of those shots had any computer elements in them.

I finished this video for Everspark Interactive last week. It is all about our vision for 2011, as well as thanks our clients for their support in 2010.

I would go into detail about how I created some of the more complex pieces, but instead I decided to just create two video tutorials. I will be posting them here and on Everspark’s blog, so keep an eye out. I’ve also got a fun tutorial I’ll be working on in the near future, and I’m still working towards updating my Kamehameha tutorial.

After Effects Tutorials – 2 New Tutorials Coming

Posted December 27th, 2010 in Tutorials by Alex

So I have been pretty busy with Everspark lately, which is awesome. A lot of great things are going on over there. Last week I finished a video about Everspark’s vision for 2011. You can check it out here. I’ll make another post about it today or tomorrow, and go into how I made it.

Additionally, I ran across two interesting techniques I used, and thought they would make great little tutorials. So keep an eye out for those. Actually they’ll be on Everspark’s blog, and I’ll embed the tutorial here, and link to the detailed information over there.

Don’t worry about the updated Kamehameha tutorial, it’s still coming, but it’s a long one!

SEO for Atlanta Video Production – Update 6

Posted December 14th, 2010 in SEO by Alex

It makes sense that only a few days after blogging about how no major developments have happened with my rankings, I jump to page two for two of my three targeted keywords. I think that just goes to show how important blogging is to SEO.

As I’ve mentioned, I work for Everspark Interactive, an incredible SEO Company. I’ve heard them say on multiple occasions how important blogging is. It’s hard to ignore that, when not a day after I write a minor blog post, my rankings jump. Now I’ve just got to remember to take some time and actually write more often.

On top of my organic rankings, I am still number one on Google Video Search for “Atlanta Video Production,” as well as number two for “After Effects Tutorial.”

Finally, and this has nothing to do with SEO, I just took a look at some of my Youtube stats, and realized that one of my videos still gets over one thousand views on a daily basis. And that video is nearly four years old!

SEO for Atlanta Video Production – Update 5

Posted December 10th, 2010 in SEO by Alex

Again, it’s been a long time since I’ve blogged. There hasn’t been a whole lot of movement in my Google organic rankings, because I haven’t had much time to put any effort into lately.

BUT one thing I did have time to do is go through my Youtube profile, and optimize all of my videos for my keywords. With a few simple changes, I now have the number one video on Google Video search for “Atlanta Video Production.”

My takeover is slow, but imminent.
