This is my first post in a series looking back at my work until now. I was asked to do this piece for a compilation CD that was sold at the 2009 Warped Tour. I was sent each track and the disc artwork, and was instructed to base the design off the artwork.
I modeled, textured, and animated the plus sign loop using Maya. Back in After Effects, I used the loop as a particle in Trapcode Particular. The Polaroids were created in Photoshop. After creating the particle and the images, all that was left was to animate all the pieces to the tracks I was given.
Almost two years later, I’m still happy with this piece. I feel I could have done more to liven up the scene, such as having the plus sign pass in front of the Polaroids on occasion. But overall, there isn’t a whole lot I would change about it. The client was very happy with their final product, and I guess that’s the best confirmation there is.
